VKYC for NRIs is an industry‑first initiative launched by IDFC FIRST Bank, enabling the remote onboarding of Non‑Resident Indians while they are in India through a secure Video KYC (VKYC) process. This process is conducted in accordance with the Video Customer Identification Process (VCIP) framework prescribed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The initiative is designed to ensure that NRIs can complete their account opening formalities efficiently, without spending a significant portion of their visit navigating banking procedures. To make the most of this digital account opening experience, it is essential to keep the following points in mind.
The VKYC process is currently available only to NRI customers holding a valid Indian passport who are physically present in India. At present, this facility is offered to NRIs visiting from five countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and the UAE.
As a prerequisite, customers must possess a valid Aadhaar that is linked to both PAN and an Indian mobile number.
During the VKYC session, customers must present the original hard copies of the following documents to the Video KYC Officer:
PAN card
Passport
Valid Visa
The officer will also verify the customer’s signature during the call. Customers are therefore advised to keep a blank sheet of paper and a pen readily available.

Yes. VCIP and Video KYC are one and the same. VCIP stands for Video-based Customer Identification Process, it is the official regulatory term for the video KYC process.
To be eligible for VCIP or V-KYC you have to be:
A Non-Resident Indian (NRI) applying for a new NRI account
Be present in India during the Video KYC.
Must possess a valid Indian passport and a PAN card.
PAN must be linked with Aadhaar.
An India mobile number must be linked with Aadhaar.
